How long does it take for golf drills to work consistently and for your own golf swing?

With the new drills, i dont seem to have as much distance with irons and driver as i used to. Why is this? How long does it take for golf drills to work consistently and for your own golf swing? It can take several weeks of many hourly repetitions to groove the desired move the drill teaches. One reason your new swing may not achieve the desired distance is, you may still be conciously thinking about the movements you want to make instead of trusting your muscle memory to accomplish the swing. If that is it, your swing is not as fluid. Once you know how you want to swing the club, you can let it go to generate the needed club head speed because there will be no thinking.

Don't really worry, changes take some time. Trust what you are learning will be better than what you had.How long does it take for golf drills to work consistently and for your own golf swing?Firstly you will have to re-train your body to do the new things. Just to throw out a number, something in the neighborhood of 60 repetitions for at least 14 days in a row is the bare minimum to integrate a new move into a swing. That is 60 repetitions in which you are devoting 100% full attention to doing exactly what you want to do -- no casualness at all. And, for most people, it will probably take more than that to overcome the old sensations.

Most likely, you are somewhere between your old and new swing, and the combination of the both isn't as good as the old. But, if the new is even better, then where you will end up has the potential to be better than the old. These things don't happen quickly, I'd just stick with it, have periodical check ups with your instructor and stick to it.
