It's all about how you address the ball. You can tell if its the right size when you address the ball and the club is completely flat on the ground. This means you don't want the toe or heal sticking up when you address the ball. If you want to know what size you need you should go to a golf store (Roger Dunns) and get fitted.
P.S. Also check the stiffness of the shaft of the club is. i think its a matter of personal preference, and if you like the clubs, you can always get them a little bit shorter or longer
the clubhead sole (bottom of the clubhead) should rest square on the ground at address, without you having to hold the grip awkwardly. if you know how to grip a golf club and address a ball, you should naturally choke up on the grip if its too long or have your left pinky right on the very edge of your grip if its too short to compensate for the length. if your chocking up a lot then they should be shorter
if when you grip the club and get ready to swing the toe of the clubhead is lifted, its too long. If the heel of the club (the part closest to the shaft) is lifted, its too short

The holes were laid out in a line and 10 holes were played twice - once 'out' and once back 'in', making a 'round' of 22 holes. However, in 1764, the golfers decided to combine the first four holes into two, which produced a round of 18 holes, though it was really 10 holes of which 8 were played twice.
Therefore, when Prestwick was built in 1851 with only 12 holes, it did not look out of place.
By 1857 however, St Andrews had put second holes in the 8 double greens of the Old Course, creating a proper round of 18 holes, and in 1858 the St Andrews club laid down a round of 18 holes for matches between its own members.
The double greens explain the origin of the different coloured flags on the first nine holes from the back nine, as you needed these at St Andrews to tell you to which hole you are playing on the double greens (see picture below). However, this did not include the eighteenth hole, which on the Old Course still has the same white flag as the that of the first nine holes. The adoption of different coloured flags by other courses for the front and back nine holes seems to be a misunderstanding of this situation as the double greens is a problem they did not have.

In 1867, Old Tom Morris advised Carnoustie when they extended their ten holes to eighteen holes, apparently the second course to do so after St Andrews.
Montrose also dates to about this time. In 1810 it had at least 7 holes played as a round of 17 holes. By 1825, there were 14 separate holes, which became 11 holes played as a round of 17 holes, as detailed on a scorecard of 1849. However, by 1866 there were 25 holes, played in a recorded competition in 1866. So it would in theory have been possible to play 18 holes at Montrose at this time. Later, in 1871 the Town Council proposed alterations to the land use, which reduced the playing area , though these developments were not fully implemented until years later. The recompense they offered was a new golf course, referred to as the New Circular Course which was officially opened on Saturday 29th September 1888. There is a map, made in 1903, of the 18 hole course of 1896. This was after further course developments and with more being planned.

How much of a time commitment is D2 college golf?
I am a college freshman and currently am on the golf team. Because I would like to become a pediatrician some day, my advisor signed me up for classes leading to a cellular/molecular biology major. Golf practice is 4 hours each day, which takes a big chunk of study time away from me. Is 4 hours of daily practice excessive? reasonable? First off you have travel during the season and second the NCAA does not allow 7 days a week. The coach has to give a day off at least one per week. 4 hours a day is reasonable.. If you are just doing range stuff you wont be there for four hours but walking 18 does take that long. However, if you want to get out of practice because it is too much then just schedule your class during part of the practice. Your coach has to understand and they only offer niche classes at certain times. You can do half practice/half class on like Tue Thur. Assuming you have a gas cart with one battery, installing the switch and the light will probably take more time than running the wires to operate the light. Make sure you put in a fuse. When you buy the switch for your light, it will most likely have a simple wiring diagram on the package to make it easy. Hope this helps.

How to make a golf cart street legal?
OK, so I have a golf cart and I would like to make it street legal so if I'm riding around in it I don't get a big ticket. I probably won't be riding on major roads, but if I do get pulled over or someone reports me, I want to be fully equiped so I don't get into trouble.

I'm guessing you will need the town board to pass an ordinance allowing it. This could be a fun project for you. Contact your alderman or town selectman or whatever they are called there and ask if they are interested in working with you on a green project. All you really need for safety is an orange triangle on the back of the cart and a good understanding of the hand signals you learn in driver's ed. but you should offer to wire the cart with brake lights and turn signals and headlights, and offer to have the headlights on at all times. You can wire that stuff yourself off a 12 v battery and lights and wire you can buy at any auto parts or farm store.
If you'll be driving it inside a city or town for the most part, I would start out there. Call up the local police first and just inquire if it would be legal wired up as I have described, but don't argue with them. If they say no, then your next step is the city council or town board.
Good luck. I think this kind of thing is the wave of the future. We drive around town in massive hunks of steel and plastic that weight 10 times what we need for getting around an urban area.

I would like to make my grips a little more sticky. I heard that if you clean them, it helps. However, i do NOT want to ruin the grip themselves. The type of grip i have is a "Golf Pride - Sofftie". I don't want to go out and buy any "SPECIAL" kind of cleaner... I'd like to use a household type of all purpose cleaner.What kind of cleaning solution should i use on my golf club grips?It can be as easy as soapy water. Scrub them good with a sudsy washcloth and wipe with a clean towel until dry. You can brush with a Brillo pad or very fine grit sandpaper to make tackier, although I may forget the sandpaper on a grip like the Sofftie. Make it a habit while playing (especially in hot weather) to keep a wet end of your towel to wipe the grips down with, then dry end to finish. My dog is a border collie (sheepdog) 1 year old. I go over to my local golf course looking for golf balls and he he has learned from watching me that it's golf balls I'm looking for. My daughter is open about the texting. She does think it is kinda wierd. She really likes the coach. However, i asked her if she is the only one that he texts and she said yes. From what i have seen or heard of the texts they are like inspirational or affirmations that she is a great person. I am just not sure how professional this is and why is she the only one of the athletes that is gettting privately texted off hours and even on Sunday nights.

Secondly, make sure your daughter saves EVERY text message she receives from him. If she's already deleted the ones so far, tell her to start keeping them. Don't tell her it's for future prosecution if the need arises, just tell her that you need to see each and every one of them. Don't rely on what she tells you.

Not OK - request a transcript of the text messages from your provider and then present them to the principal of the school. Even if there is nothing inappropriate in the language, there is certainly something inappropriate about the timing. There is something that pedophiles do that is called "grooming" - it means that they slowly push the envelope (being nice and understanding, giving gifts, etc) until their intended victim is comfortable and then they make their move - and especially with teenage girls (who are constantly fighting for acceptance), they may think that this guy loves them and that it is a real relationship when in fact she is probably just one of many children he has preyed on.
Go with your instincts! If you think that something is not right, act on it. As a parent I would rather be wrong and have to apologize to the coach for accusing him than be right and have to explain to my child why I did not do everything in my power to protect her.

i'll be worried and i'm 17. Many of my managers at work use to use that excuse of texting to get closer or flirt with the girls at my job. No I am a volleyball coach and never call or text my players. If I have any schedule changes I call the parents if i have encouraging words for them I tell them at practice at the end of every season I do send all my players an email saying thanks for a great season give some things they did great at and tell them if they ever need anything they can call me. In your shoes I would have a nice (or not so nice) sitdown with her coach and find out what is going on. If I got a wonky vibe from him I would 1) report him for suspicious activity 2) get my daughter a new golf coach and 3) get my daughter a new cell phone number. Not OK - request a transcript of the text messages from your provider and then present them to the principal of the school. Even if there is nothing inappropriate in the language, there is certainly something inappropriate about the timing. There is something that pedophiles do that is called "grooming" - it means that they slowly push the envelope (being nice and understanding, giving gifts, etc) until their intended victim is comfortable and then they make their move - and especially with teenage girls (who are constantly fighting for acceptance), they may think that this guy loves them and that it is a real relationship when in fact she is probably just one of many children he has preyed on.
Go with your instincts! If you think that something is not right, act on it. As a parent I would rather be wrong and have to apologize to the coach for accusing him than be right and have to explain to my child why I did not do everything in my power to protect her.

i'll be worried and i'm 17. Many of my managers at work use to use that excuse of texting to get closer or flirt with the girls at my job. not okay.. I had GREAT relationships with all my coaches. During the sport season I think I spent more time with the Coaches than my own family. But this doesnt seem right.. I surgest you leave her to it but make sure at the same time nothing wrong. Make sure her behaviour isn't particulary wierd but whatever you do DO NOT go through her phone. If you loose her trust she will not stay away from her golf tutor no matter what you do. She will hate you. DOn't mess it up. He is doing nothing wrong but texting her and so what if they get into a realationship I mean he can't be that much older than her. No I am a volleyball coach and never call or text my players. If I have any schedule changes I call the parents if i have encouraging words for them I tell them at practice at the end of every season I do send all my players an email saying thanks for a great season give some things they did great at and tell them if they ever need anything they can call me. I would say this is not OK. I guess the only possibility of it being ok would be if she is the best player or something, but even then I would say he should stop this. Even if all of that were going on and this was only a last few days sort of thing the fact that she appears to be the only person he is sending these messages to still strikes me as a bit wonky. In your shoes I would have a nice (or not so nice) sitdown with her coach and find out what is going on. If I got a wonky vibe from him I would 1) report him for suspicious activity 2) get my daughter a new golf coach and 3) get my daughter a new cell phone number. But that's just me and I'm more than a little distrusting of most males as well as a firm believer in better safe than sorry.

So Iaccoca had to climb over the top to get in, but then he could drive it like a convertible, except of course he couldn't put the top up. Well i wouldnt neccessarily say it is damaged, however my wedges hosel is slightly chipped just very slightly.

A website or step by step procedure on how to build a backyard golf green. Anyway, we got everything from www.putting-greens.com because my uncle who is on the PGA Tour has 3 in his yard and he got everything from there.
you order everything you need... you can get the kit but, we ended up needing more than what was in the kit so, we aren't going to get the kit when we do it at our other house.
you need:
the manual
easy cup cutter
practice flag/cup
the bentgrass seed. depending on where you live... you might want to get one in the bucket... if its hot/humid where you live.
there is different kinds of everything... the cutter and the flags. it doesn't matter which one you get.. depends on how much you want to spend etc.
once you get everything.. i would suggest starting on early friday or saturday morning. once everything is done and in place, you will have a putting green!!! make sure you water it in hot weather and that simple stuff. they are easy to maintain and you can put rocks around them to look pretty.. its all about what you want.

Go with artificial turf. The knowledge to maintain a disease free green is best left to the experts. Unless you have a good Greenskeeper you will go nuts trying to keep the green in shape. Also the mowers needed to mow a real green are tempermental and costly. If you get a good player they can hit any club regardless of the price but when you become a confident and consistent golfer you can appreciate the nuances with different clubs. So first learn to swing the club the correct way and then get a more expensive driver. I have played with people that have bought their clubs from second hand and Op-shops and all the clubs are a different make and they still played bloody well. What are some things i can do to train for golf at my local recreation center?
they have a big exercise room, a track, a HUGE pool, a volleyball court,a tennis court, and weights, oh yeah a basketball court too. PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING. Flexibility is much more important. The ability to coil tightly around your center is much needed for lag and power. You can also work on band work where you would use an arm band with weights and focus on the lag part of your downswing, and strengthing your wrists and your ab and back. Your center is much important. I'm only 5'10 155 lbs but because im flexible i can coil and puond the ball i can drive 350+ yds, no lie! So work on your flexibility and core strength. Good luck!

I have started working out again after several years. The reason I stopped was because my muscle growth especially in my chest hindered my golf swing. Now that I have stared back, I need suggestions on stretches to counter that growth and keep my swing fluid and less mechanical. However, average players do need basic clubs and they are a driver, fairway metal woood #3 and possibly a five or 7 wood. Two hybrids to cover the long irons such as the three and four iron then 5 through the pitching wedge, a sand iron standard iron and putter. If your having troule in what is called the "red zone, 100 yards in") think about a gap wedge about 52 degrees or a lob wedge 60 degrees. The lofts mentioned must coincide with your other clubs as to not have two clubs with the same loft. By the way there is no minimum of clubs you can carry.
Visit a driving range to see is thee is about 6 to 10 yards differential between your clubs. If not I suggest a look at a new configuration of your set. Be mindful of a course you may be playing. If it's super tight then a three wood od the tee may be for you. Watch the pros play, sometimes they leave the driver in the bag for accuract but carry three wedges for the ("red zone or scoring zone"),

So i came in 5th in my high school county tournament and i am a freshman. i shot an 82 from the white tees. i putt really well i just dont hit the ball really far. First keep working on your game, and DONT worry about distance. You shot a 82 without hitting it that far!? Work on wedges and putting as much as you can. If you want to get noticed make sure you play for your high school team, but also enter in junior tournaments. If you want to play for a top notch college and get a scholarship for golf you will have to have won some amateur tournaments and shoot in the high 60s low 70s. I wasn't a great high school golfer, but improved in college. I started shooting in the mid 70s tried out for the team and made it. I played for a division 3 college. If you want to play division 1 work on your game and enter some other amateur tournaments. Playing against other golfers that you don't know is the best way to get used to the pressure. It is on the SE side of Orlando, in a suburb called Kissimmee. They are a little pricey but you do get a discount if you are staying at their properties. There are 10 to 20 good newer courses in this area, just get a gold guide, available at most of the souvenier places. Take a look at Orange County National (the PGA Tour Qualifying school has been held there twice and will again soon). I would visit a local Country Club or at least a more prestigious club they usually have a good selection of nice well made shoes from footjoy. Honestly though if you don't want to do that go to the footjoy website you can customize shoes there. You can basically put any design on them you want and colours its all up to you. I would visit a local Country Club or at least a more prestigious club they usually have a good selection of nice well made shoes from footjoy. Honestly though if you don't want to do that go to the footjoy website you can customize shoes there. You can basically put any design on them you want and colours its all up to you. I've got a 92 VW Golf with a bad 1.6 turbodiesel engine. I know where I can get a replacement engine. I am curious as to how long it would take to remove the old engine and reinstall the replacement engine? I believe the transmission has to come out too, correct? If you don't have access to a ramp you are going to struggle especially if you have not done one before. My uncle died under a car when it fell on him because he did not have the proper equipment. Good luck if you do it yourself. Don't forget to double check you have disconnected everything when you drop the engine. What kind of tools and equipment you got. I worked on Rabbits(basically same thing-just a different name). If you get a repair manual from the library, it speeds things up considerably. You will note that the engine is dropped down under the car, not out through the top.

I am not well equipped but managed to drop the motor and trans and pull the body out of the garage in 3 hours by myself alone no major rush with hand tools with 2 scissor jacks and 1 screw jack and a transmission jack.(That was a turbodiesel as well)...Make sure the exhaust manifold bolts are on tight before reinstalling.
It all comes out in one chunk. I had more fight with the exhaust "C" clamps than anything else.
You GOT to have metric sockets and wrenches. DON'T even consider it if you only got vise grips.
Axles got to come off completely from the transmission and from the wheels.
If you are by yourself, give yourself the weekend. Personally, I like a beer break here and there. This is my first year playing golf and I don't want to develop bad habits. I am a 25 handicap and I just learned how to pitch a ball although I can't yet control it's distance. Anyways, I can drive the ball 275 yards 6 times out of 18, so the potential is there at times. However, almost everyone I play w/ tells me that I am bending my left hand too much.
