How does Superman see when he uses his super-visions?

Everyone knows he has extra-sensory abilities like x-ray, telescopic, microscopic, heat-vision, etc. But how does he see when he uses them?

How can he see when he uses heat-vision? My guess is that the blasts are translucent and he temporarily sees in red when he uses them-they flood his whole eyeballs. But do these blasts come from the whites of his eyes or from his retinas?How does Superman see when he uses his super-visions?Well seeing as how he has the Xray vision I'd imagine he can see through the blast without it blinding him en enveloping his line of sight regardless of the source..
