unlikely, but the plot would have been destroyed if Kal-El didn't look human since ... well, it would be pretty hard to not know that you are an alien if you had ten eyes or something. Also, the comic writers were caucasian, so that explains that. As absurd superman is, I have seen more absurd things. It is just a part of our culture that aliens are somewhat humanoid; 2 legs, or 2 eyes, etc....
