Where does the immobiliser connect into the wiring loom(ecu) in a vw golf mk3 '96?

I have a mk2 golf with a mk3 engine i have just put in, the engine starts spark fuel etc then as soon as it starts the ecu cuts out the spark and the engine dies, from searching google i have found this is most likely due to the immobiliser. (which came with the engine but i haven't connected because i don't know where).
