My good friend is a teaching pro.

He has played Nationwide tour events, he tries to qualify in the Open Championship every year; he makes a Monday qualifier every once in a while.

He was an All American in college, and has a PGA card.

Ya he鈥檚 a very good golfer!!

Anyway, he now works at a private club but his last job was at a range, he made $7 an hour, he got to keep his lesion money but that was 25-50 an hour, but he would have maybe 2 on average a day. Not much.

Unless you have a hook up at a nice club it鈥檚 just not a profession that you can live on.

It鈥檚 who you know, not what you know, especially in the golf world.

While $50 an hour may sound great you need to keep in mind that you only get paid when someone actually takes a lesson. If you only manage to give one lesson a day you only make $50 a day...



I'd suggest that you take up teaching golf as a part time job, maybe in the evenings or so. Have another 'bread-and-butter' job that pays the bills until you are ready to teach full time.
The amount a teacher makes depends on the area of the country, length of time teaching and the individual's marketability. Figure on anywhere from $15,000 per year (that's correct!) to six figures. Most make about $35,000 to $60,000 per year. I'm the head pro and director of golf at a private club and I charge $45 for a 50-minute lesson. I'm obviously not a full-time teacher, but I rarely turn down lessons. I expect to make about $5000 this year from teaching. So, you can see that teaching is not necessarily lucrative. To make a good living teaching, you have to work in an area that has the potential for a lot of lessons, and you will have to work very, very hard. to start with u will be an amateur n the pay may not be as u expect.
Most "club pros" charge $35-$50/ 1/2hour. I go to a top rated

instructor that gets $150/hour-but he is really worth it! David Leadbetter gets about $2000/day for individual lessons at his academy.

Also, most of this money is in cash (I wonder how much gets to IRS)?
