I like to think of it as tennis being a sport in direct competition with another person where you are trying to use your skill to play to their weakness, whereas Golf is a sport where it is a competition between the player and the course.



Think of it like this - in tennis your hit directly affects your competitor. If you hit it well enough they will not be able to return it. In golf, no matter how you hit the ball, there is no physical competition against the competitor. They still hit their ball from the tee and are going for the same target. Having said that, there is no better sport between the two. It comes down to personality and philosophy. Many people like the mental and physical competition against themselves and nature.
