How do you become a Golf Caddy in Garden City, NY?

I'm looking for a summer job, and I'm considering being a caddy. I live right near the Golf Clubs in Garden City, NY, and I want to know how to become a caddy at those places. Do I need to be able to drive a golf cart? Do I need to know someone there? What about with experience? How much of golf do I need to know? Also, does anyone know how much they pay at those clubs?
