I would like to make my grips a little more sticky. I heard that if you clean them, it helps. However, i do NOT want to ruin the grip themselves. The type of grip i have is a "Golf Pride - Sofftie". I don't want to go out and buy any "SPECIAL" kind of cleaner... I'd like to use a household type of all purpose cleaner. What kind of cleaning solution should i use on my golf club grips? It can be as easy as soapy water. Scrub them good with a sudsy washcloth and wipe with a clean towel until dry. You can brush with a Brillo pad or very fine grit sandpaper to make tackier, although I may forget the sandpaper on a grip like the Sofftie. Make it a habit while playing (especially in hot weather) to keep a wet end of your towel to wipe the grips down with, then dry end to finish. A little care will preserve them for quite a while, although you should change grips at least every other season, or every season for very active golfers. What kind of cleaning solution should i use on my golf club grips?
When your grips get dirty and slick it is because of the oil from the sweat in your hands and they will regain some of their original tack if they are not too worn. Use a household degreaser such as Fantastik and wipe them down thoroughly; rinse them off to remove any residue. You will also be removing the oxidation that has built up and you'll see lots of black coming off. If the grips are still shiny try rubbing them with a piece of sandpaper to buff them up a bit. What kind of cleaning solution should i use on my golf club grips?Warm Water and mild dish washing soap. What kind of cleaning solution should i use on my golf club grips?
