How do you work out what size golf clubs you need?

Im 16 and wanting to start playing golf. I am 168 cm tall (finished growing) .

My dad has a set of clubs and im wanting to use those but I need to know if they are they right size... so how do you know if they are the right size? or how do you know what size you need? thanks!!How do you work out what size golf clubs you need?First off, your height has nothing to do with it. The measurements that matter most are hand size, and wrist to floor. Some of the factors that are involved in fitting is these measurements, swing speed, and swing plane. A professional will be able to tell you the grip size, the length of the clubs, the flex, the loft, and the lie of the clubs you need in order to make the most of your equipment. Go to a Golfsmith, Golf Galaxy, or a local pro shop and they will be able to get you fitted and tell you what type of clubs would work best for you.How do you work out what size golf clubs you need?
It's all about how you address the ball. You can tell if its the right size when you address the ball and the club is completely flat on the ground. This means you don't want the toe or heal sticking up when you address the ball. If you want to know what size you need you should go to a golf store (Roger Dunns) and get fitted.

P.S. Also check the stiffness of the shaft of the club is. If you're just starting you probably want to start at a regular stiffness. How do you work out what size golf clubs you need?i dont know for certain, but my teacher told me a 5 iron should be around your belly button if its straight up (perpendicular to the ground)

i think its a matter of personal preference, and if you like the clubs, you can always get them a little bit shorter or longer

the clubhead sole (bottom of the clubhead) should rest square on the ground at address, without you having to hold the grip awkwardly. if you know how to grip a golf club and address a ball, you should naturally choke up on the grip if its too long or have your left pinky right on the very edge of your grip if its too short to compensate for the length. if your chocking up a lot then they should be shorter

if when you grip the club and get ready to swing the toe of the clubhead is lifted, its too long. If the heel of the club (the part closest to the shaft) is lifted, its too short

about 80% of golfers are standard length, so (im not sure what 168 cm looks like off the top of my head) if your avg height, you should be ok with your dads clubs, if theyre designed for females

males require longer clubs usuallyHow do you work out what size golf clubs you need?
first your dads clubs are probably too stiff for you. womens clubs have more flex in shafts. possibly a lil too long but all you need is to choke-up on grip so you are comfortably bent at waist, with blade edge of club square on turf. try them. can't hurt. but try ladies clubs to see difference. watch women golfers (pros) see how they stand when they address the ball for there shot. will give you a visual idea of how you should look in front of a mirror. How do you work out what size golf clubs you need?look at how tall your dad is and how tall you are. they probably aren't the right clubs for you. men usually get steel shafts while women use graphite because our swings aren't as strong. How do you work out what size golf clubs you need?
Go to a golf pro shop and get fitted by a PGA professional
