How much money do golf instructors make ?

You see my firend has got it in his mind that he'll make 105 000 - 950 000 a year .! I am very doubtful about this . He does play a lot of golf . Our par for our coures is 72 , when he shoots 76 , he gets so pissed , i am glad when i get 80 . Back to the point , he wouldn't make 105 00 - 950 000 a year , will he ? How much money do golf instructors make ?My friend is a certified golf instructor, and he told me the average instructor makes between $40,000 and $60,000. They usually get between $60 and $100 per hour for a private lesson. The actual amount they can command depends upon how good they are, and the facility where they work. The teaching pro at the Thunderbird Golf Club in Palm Springs, for example, may get as much as $200 per hour for a private lesson.

Some of the big-time instructors, e.g. Butch Harmon, make hundreds of thousands, but he is able to charge the pros $300 or $400 dollars per hour. I read somewhere that Tiger paid him $400 per hour. He and Leadbetter and some of the other big name instructors also sell instructional videos, books and make personal appearances for a fee.

Notice that the only players name mentioned here is Tiger. That's because good players usually are not good instructors. Your friend may be a scratch golfer who gets upset when he has a bad day, but does he get upset when you don't get something he is trying to teach you? If so, maybe he should keep his day job.

Hit 'em long, straight and often. How much money do golf instructors make ?Certified golf instructors are a lot different than PGA trained teachers and not too often will you find a good facility that would hire a non PGA instructor ahead of a PGA member. PGA members working exclusively as teacher usually get between $75 and $100 per hour for their lesson fees. A fairly busy teacher would probably have three groups a week at $160 per group and 5 or 6 private lessons a day at $50 per lesson. A junior summer camp would bring in another $1000 a week for seven weeks in the summer months. Likely income would be $7500- $10000 from group lessons, $ $25000 - $30000 from private lessons and $7000 - $10000 from camps. A few extra dollars could be made from video swing analysis etc. and a good reputation would be required to maintain and improve these numbers. The teacher pretty much has to be on duty from morning until night and a lot of golf is out of the question. To become a CGTF instructor take a couple of weeks training and to become a PGA pro requires a couple of years to attain the first coaching level. There are a few teachers who do very large numbers but they have spent a lot of time and money to get to where they are in the teaching business. Hope this helps you out a bit.How much money do golf instructors make ?it depends on what clubs dose he work for !
