How do you get a sponsorship to play professional golf?

I'm an aspiring golfer. I'm currently a 5 handicap but I never play. I have a young family and can't afford to pursue my dream without financial backing. I'm currently a professional firefighter and really love to play golf. I know if given the opportunity, I could make it.How do you get a sponsorship to play professional golf?Fred thank you for your service to your community. As a firefighter you work shifts that give you the time to work on your game and you will have to improve in order to attract attention to your game. To get backing from an investor or sponsor you will have to show that you are worth the investment and to do that you will have to shine in local tournaments. With your current handicap at five you just are not up to the task so if you are really serious get your wife on board and see if there's a way that you can split your time between golf and family to try to reach your goals. It won't be easy and you should set reasonable time frames to reach your goals. How do you get a sponsorship to play professional golf?
Seriously, why would a company sponsor you? You need to be able to make them money. Your not a name, and you do not have the ability to get exemptions on any real tour. Not trying to be rude, just giving you the facts.

What I would suggest is you have a fundraiser in your community to raise money for your entry into Q school. If you make it out of q school you can play on the nationwide tour and start making money. On the nationwide tour you will be picked up by a corporate sponsor if your good enough. The rest is up to you.How do you get a sponsorship to play professional golf?legalbgl is right

I don't want to sound harsh but sponsors won't care if your playing off 5. There are plenty of scratch golfers out there.

And no I am not a scratch golfer, I am off 14.5 but I am in the same boat as you. I have time and the passion to want to make money from golf. I have a long way but every ones got to have a goal right?

Find time to play and then if you can consistently shoot around par then enter as many scratch competitions and any other open competitions as you can.

Get some experience and then start thinking about going to Q-school or something.

But for now keep playing and enter competitions, then write back with a question for your next step.

Good Luck!!!How do you get a sponsorship to play professional golf?
