Advice on golf and if i should join the high school golf team?

Whenever I compete and I tee off, I get really nervous and I mess up my shot (badly). Is there any way to get over that, and should I join my high school golf team even though I havent golfed in 2 years and I hit a 57 two years ago on a 9 hole?Advice on golf and if i should join the high school golf team?Take some lessons that focus on the fundamentals - like Grip, Stance and Alignment and work heavily on your short game - Chipping and Putting

The worse thing that can happen is you'll be outside every afternoon and will probably make some new friends and be a part of something at school

HAVE FUNAdvice on golf and if i should join the high school golf team?If you school is really strong at golf then a 57 probably won't be good enough. But give it a go anyway. Total failure is never trying something reasonable and good for you.

As for competition, remember this, golf is a sport where you can't impede or try to stop the other competitors from doing their duty.

When you play golf your game is the only thing you control. When you play football or basketball the other players try to defend against your offense and you have to defend against their offense. You can physically get in their face under the rules. Heck, in football you tackle them.

So when you play a round realize the only thing you control is your game. The other players have no influence on how well you play.Advice on golf and if i should join the high school golf team?My advice would be to get a few lessons before playing high school golf.

Golf is all about focusing you mind on your target and what shot you want to play. Tiger Woods, when he was playing well, was the best at doing this. So when your teeing off, tee up the ball then go behind the ball and take a practice swing, visualize the ball flight onto the fairway, then take your stance and look down the fairway again. The more you focus on your target the less nervous you should be.

Hope that helpsAdvice on golf and if i should join the high school golf team?
If you shot a 57 on 9 holes you might not make the cut for the team (if your school is big enough for cuts). I would suggest a lot of practicing between now and the time tryouts are. If you can shoot in the 80's from the blue tees, you shouldn't have a problem making the team. Unless you go to school with a bunch of golf freaks haha.

As far as being nervous goes, the more you play, the more comfortable you'll get at the tee box. Just remember that driving isn't everything. You could hit every green in regulation without hitting any fairways.
